Katherine England will teach mosaic beading using beautiful glass beads and findings to create our ‘everything’ nickel silver covers. The most beautiful journal you will ever own.
Lynn McRae Leahy will teach her unique collage and painting techniques. Utilizing printed papers that are layered you will add washes of color for depth and beauty. Once this is achieved the figure or design is added. Instructions for a basic figure will be given or you are free to add your own design ideas.She will show you how to transfer these concepts and add color for completion. No previous experience is necessary.
Helen Shafer Garcia will share both drawing and watercolor techniques for journaling with a relaxed style. We'll explore buildings, flora, and objects in this beautiful town, building up ideas to draw and paint.
Katherine England and Helen Shafer Garcia will teach two-needle, coptic stitching to bring this glorious book together.
A large ( approximately 12 inch) unfinished stand will be provided for you to display this silver- metal journal and you can embellish it at your own pace.

Here is just an overview of your days in San Miguel.
Day One: October 28th
Arrival day in SMA and time to settle in to Casa De La Noche.
A renovated and historical old brothel with many stories to tell.
This is where everyone stays and the workshops are located.
Breakfast daily. Lunches during workshops. Dinner daily is your own choice from
The many restaurants and local cafes. A perfect time to engage new friendships.
Day 2: October 29th
Orientation during breakfast and a chance to meet your fellow students and teachers.
We will outline what the day will bring and how the week is planned.
Excursion to the Mask Museum.
This evening we will host an opening reception with Posole and Margaritas at Casa de la Noche .
Day 3 : October 30th
Excursion: Mural Walkabout.
Workshop all day.
Optional cocktail hour -beer and wine provided.
Day 4:October 31st
Workshop all day. Halloween celebration in the Jardin early evening. Optional to bring candy or trinkets to share with the children.
Day 5: November 1st
Excursions: The mosaic home of Anado and RIchard Schulz -Chapel of Jimmy Ray.
Shrine of Atotonilco and the Folk Art Gallery -Galeria Atotonilco .
Day of the Dead events.
Day 6: November 2nd
Workshop all day.
Free evening for Day of the Dead events.Visit the cemeteries and see the altars at the Jardin.
Day 7:November 3rd
Workshop all day.
Free evening.
Day 8:November 4th
Free Day.
Optional: Botanical Garden adventure or possibly a cooking class.
Student Showcase 4:30-5:30 followed by our
Farewell Dinner at Mí Casa restaurant-included.
Day 9:November 5th
Departure Day.
DAY OF THE DEAD celebration is just one of the many adventures we have planned for this incredible workshop.Participate in parades, visit the local cemetery and Cathedrals.Admire the exquisite altars…take luscious photos for journaling opportunities .

The Art Retreat will cost $3300 per person based on double occupancy. All rooms are non-smoking .
The supplement for a single room is $700 and is based on availability.

Participants MUST be in good physical condition and able to walk on cobblestone streets and climb stairs unassisted. Please see waiver below.

Airfare is not included; Queretaro (QRO) and Leon (BJX) are the nearest airports. Airport transfers to and from the hotel are the responsibility of each participant . Casa de la Noche requires the use of the shuttle service BajioGo , www.bajiogo.com and will coordinate the arrangements directly with you.
Trip insurance is required for your protection and may be purchased at www.insuremytrip.com, Allianz Travel at allianztravelinsurance.com, or an insurance carrier of your choice. Note: Allianz offers an annual protection plan as well as individual trip insurance.
Payment and Cancellation Policy:
$250 non-refundable fee for cancellation prior to June 30, 2024
$550 deposit will be forfeited for cancellation after June 30, 2024 and before August 30, 2024
Payment of $1,375 due by July 1, 2023 and $1,375 final payment due by August 30, 2024
No refunds (unless we are able to fill your space) after August 30, 2024. Your refund would come through your purchased travel insurance after August 30, 2024.

Acknowledgement of Risks and Waiver
By attending Tesoro del Corazon retreat, you must acknowledge and understand that participating in this event can be physically strenuous, whereas you must be able to walk up and down stairs unassisted and walk on uneven sidewalks and cobblestone streets.
You acknowledge and assume all risk of property damage, personal harm, illness or injury relating to or resulting from your participating in all workshops and activities. Attendees forever release Tesoro del Corazon, Casa de la Noche/Casa Manana and any affiliated organizations, (collectively “Releasees”) from any and all actions, claims, or demands that they, their assignees, heirs, distributes, guardians, next of kin, spouse and legal representatives now have, or may have in the future, for injury, death, or property damage, related to (i) participation in these activities, (ii) the negligence or other acts, whether directly connected to these activities or not, and however caused, by any Releasee, or (iii) the condition of the premises where these activities occur, whether or not the attendee participated in the activities. Attendees also agree that they, their assignees, heirs, distributes, guardians, next of kin, spouse and legal representatives will not make a claim against, sue, or attach the property of any Releasee in connection with any of the matters covered by the foregoing release. Attendees agree to hold Tesoro del Corazón and Casa de La Noche, blameless for any damages, physical, financial or loss of personal property, suffered as a result of attending and teaching at Casa de La Noche, including cancellation due to weather, natural disasters or acts of war.
I hereby consent to any medical care that may be judged necessary in the case of an injury, accident or sickness while participating in this retreat. I will provide a copy of my travel insurance to the trip organizers solely for the purpose of my needing medical attention.
