Join us for a trip of a lifetime in San Miguel de Allende,
Mexico! Eight days of fun, laughter, and blissful creating with painting,
sculpting, book arts, and surface designs.
We are pleased to announce our new guest artist Elitia Hart.
Elitia Hart is a traveling metal art instructor based in Calgary, Canada. She is very excited to be our first guest artist for Tesoro del Corazon!
Elitia will be teaching metal embossing on luscious pewter
sheet and showing us various tooling techniques including molding metal sheet into
a 3 dimensional crown.
Helen Shafer
Garcia will share her love for paper and painting. You will design a small
folding collage fabric and paper folio, paint festive designs in acrylic and
build paper mache arm structures.
Lynn Leahy is excited to bring another dimension to this year’s
workshop in San Miguel with the addition of sculpting. Using paper clay she
will instruct students on the formation of facial features and the head for the
Santo. She will also teach techniques for giving the sculpture a beautiful
patina to complete this project.
Laurie Mika will once again be sharing her polymer clay
surface design techniques. She will guide students in creating the base for
their Santos using gold leaf and embedding techniques. Laurie will also share
additional mixed media techniques like stamping and stenciling on two sides of
the base structure.
We will be hosting our 8 night retreat at the beautiful Casa de la Noche B and B in San Miguel de Allende. This property, formally Madam Turcas Bordello, has been transformed into an oasis in the heart of the city. All rooms have private baths and high speed Wi-Fi access. Water is purified and safe to drink. As your home away from home, you will be able to enjoy many common rooms, including kitchen, living room, terraces and gardens. This is the perfect place to let your creative juices flow!
San Miguel de Allende will be entrenched
in the celebration of life during “Dia de Los Muertos.” Since our workshop
coincides with this amazing celebration week, you will have the opportunity to
experience all the sites, sounds, colors, smells, costumes and foods that
take
place during this time.
