The Santa Fe Workshop

It is hard to believe that our Santa Fe ,New Mexico workshop has come and gone.
Working on art, meeting new friends, eating great food, exploring, shopping (of course) , in a unique setting that is rich in culture, history and the arts= Santa Fe,NM.
All of us, Helen Shafer Garcia, Laurie Mika, Jane LaFazio and Lynn Leahy had a fabulous time teaching this workshop to a talented and enthusiastic group of women. We saw old friends from previous workshops and met many new ones from all over the world. Some samples of their work is revealed in these pictures.
They all came together in beautiful "quilt like" squares that we tried to capture as one large textile photo.
More photo's to come....

Art Quilt Samples...a peek at what's to come

Two samples from my own art quilt:
The first square is from Helen Shafer Garcia's masa paper, water
color painting that she taught me and the second is my class;Lynn Leahy's reverse painting technique. We will be using plexiglass instead of real glass on this project. Both squares were sewn onto painted canvas.

One Week From Today..We're in Santa Fe!!!!!

Next Sunday, April 21st, Helen Shafer Garcia, Lynn Leahy, Laurie Mika, Jane LaFazio
will be in Santa Fe. We are all looking forward to this workshop.Santa Fe is a wonderful community that generates an artistic energy that is such fun to tap into (not to mention the great food). A mixed media artist quilt ~ for our Santa Fe retreat

santa fe project
Sample of the project for our Santa Fe art retreat
Our retreat is next month!
We've got 32 participants signed up. And we (Laurie Mika, Helen Shafer Garcia, Lynn Leahy, and Jane LaFazio) are finalizing the details.
We met earlier this week to create our sample project (in the photo above) and we are thrilled with the result! We've been making the pieces, trying different backgrounds, and we knew it would be fabulous....but it sure felt good to see it all together! We can't wait to teach our participants each of the processes and see them piece together their own mixed media artist quilt!
Email here to check on availability to be added to our email list for future retreats.
